We recommend Wilson Diaz whole heartedly: excellent organisation, charming personality, very good English, prompt responses to emails. especially notable was when two of our internal flights were disrupted he swung into action and seamlessly re-schedule our arrangements. 10/10. Lodges: Cock of Rock Lodge: perhaps our favourite; one could birdwatch from the veranda and see a succession of birds such as tanagers and hummingbirds. Food excellent, accommodation good; candles for lighting, no wifi or phone signal (but didn´t expect that). Manu Research Centre: A 7h boat trip to here. Highlights here included a hand-reared adult tapir, excellent canopy tower and macaw clay lick (a 30 min boat ride away). Ox-box lake birding by boat was cool and relaxing. The lodge boasted wifi, but there wasn’t any. This lodge had a sense of care-less management. Tambopata Research Centre (TRC): coming here it was obvious one had moved into a protected zone, there was much more wildlife, including a jaguar, which made our trip. However, our room here was in an area of the lodge under construction, and was unfinished. The place was a building site with noisy machinery. TRC should have warned us and/or offered a price reduction. Food was excellent, staff charming, parrot clay lick good. Refugio Amazonas; one night here on our way to Maldonado to fly home: Harpy Eagle and chick at nest and an anaconda were fantastic. Guides: Juan Chalco: excellent in every respect: company, birding, breadth of interest, good sense of humour. Oscar Mishaja: also excellent with detailed local knowledge of TRC – a very determined and effective birder. In three weeks: 350 bird species, 15 mammals, hundred (probably 1000s) of insect species including fabulous moths and butterflies

We had a brilliant trip in Northern Peru with Wilson. Loads of superb wildlife sightings, good accommodation, good food & a well organized trip. The sites we visited were excellant & I would not hesitate to travel with Wilson again, who is a good leader & organized all the tour logistics spot on. highlights were so many it’s hard to pick out the best but probably for me it has to be the 13 Andean Condors in the air at once as we crossed the Andes, some of which were right over our heads, excellant, thanks Wilson

- Steve Cale, Northern Peru’s birding route

Wilson and his team are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming guides. They made our trip to Northern Peru both seamless and memorable – we saw many of the region’s most desirable birds thanks to their skill and intuition. Highly recommended!

- Josh Jones, Super birding tour in Peru

I’ve visited Peru twice in recent years, and both times I had the pleasure of having Wilson Diaz of Green Tours as my guide. On the most recent occasion he prepared an excellent itinerary and handled all the logistics, while also liaising on my travel arrangements with the tourist board and other organisations. Wilson always replied quickly and helpfully to my emails, and while in Peru went to great lengths to ensure the trips were a success, accommodating last-minute changes I made to the itinerary without any fuss.
In the field, his knowledge of Peruvian birds was excellent and made all the difference to key species not being missed. I would liked to have spent longer at some of the sites we visited, but it was my time constraints that prevented this, not the itinerary Wilson devised.
The highlight of our time together was seeing a pair of Diademed Sandpiper Plovers and three Andean Condors among a host of other exciting species at high-altitude in the Andes, all preceded by a feast of an outdoor breakfast served at a table with chairs in the middle of an Andean plateau – an amazing experience!
Cumulatively on those two shortish trips we logged almost 500 species, a total which speaks for itself. In summary, the birding was spectacular and I have no hesitation in recommending Wilson Diaz and Green Tours for anyone wanting to maximise the potential of their birding trip to Peru. I’m already looking forward to my next trip!

- Dominic Mitchell, Fantastic birding, expert guide

Wilson Diaz set up special tours for my wife and I for three days around Lima.  The first day was an afternoon visit to the Saint Rose of Lima Cathedral which we found very interesting.  The second day was a birding trip to locations south of Lima (Pucusana, Lomas de Asia Reserve and Villa Marshes).  The third day was a birding trip north of Lima to the Lomas de Lachay Reserve.  In addition to visiting these locations, Wilson also arranged for hotel accommodations and meals.  Our guide, Alejandro Tello, was prompt, courteous, very knowledgeable of the birds and a good navigator in Lima’s challenging  traffic!!.  The box-lunch meals that he provided (as part of our agreement) were very good.Everything that we requested was set up exactly as we would have wanted.  I highly recommend Wilson Diaz and his organization for the superb job that was done to accommodate our needs.  Alejandro found the birds we wanted to see, and even more.  We were pleasantly surprised to discover that he is the author of several birding/nature books, two of which we purchased. We had planned for this trip for a long time.  The other legs of the trip include a river boat tour on the Peruvian Amazon and a visit to two birding lodges in Ecuador.  Wilson’s ability to “get it right” on the first leg of the trip was a great start and we are most appreciative of his efforts.- Jeffrey Scott, Birding around Lima

We came across Green Tours on the Blue Sky Wildlife website. Getting in touch with the contact person at Green Tours, Wilson, and working out a customized itinerary for the two of us was a smooth and pleasant process. Wilson turned out to be the guide for our entire 19-day trip, who is very diligent and pleasant. He was quite persistent in looking for birds throughout the trip, eg. finding Rainbow Starfrontlets and Shining Sunbeams out in the mountain roads above Leymebamba. Since we share the same interest in birding photography, I quite enjoyed his guidance throughout the trip. He was as patient as we were when waiting for the Marvelous Spatuletail to show up at the feeders at Huembo Lodge. All in all, this has been a very pleasant birding trip and I must say a good guide makes all the difference. We highly recommend birding with Green Tours.
