Kettle Creek Battlefield places a Revolutionary War visit in the countryside outside Washington. The February 14, 1779 battle opposed Patriot militia and Loyalist forces; the terrain provides the setting for understanding the encounter rather than a preserved collection of battle buildings.
The battlefield association publishes walking trails and a kiosk beside the War Hill parking area with maps and information. Its archaeological interpretation follows the fighting across Liberty Church Hill, the Kelly Branch valley and War Hill.
