New Hope Railroad

New Hope Railroad makes the railway itself a reason to explore Bucks County. Its traditional excursion begins at New Hope's 1891 station and follows tracks formerly associated with the Reading system. The published trip runs to Lahaska and back in approximately 45 minutes, while other named excursions have different routes, durations and services.

Carriage choice changes the experience. First Class uses a climate-controlled parlor with wooden tables and chairs, mahogany detailing and restored fixtures. Open-Air Class offers bench seating and exposure to the weather. Travelers prioritizing comfort should compare the class available on their selected departure; the existence of a premium car does not mean every train offers the same accommodation.

The traditional excursion does not include a meal service. Food-oriented trains are separate products, and the operating locomotive should also be checked rather than assumed to be steam-powered. These distinctions keep expectations aligned with the ticket actually purchased.

The operator's 2026 program adds another way to use the line: electric-assist railbikes for up to four passengers. The published season runs through November, with New Hope departures Monday through Thursday and Lahaska departures Friday through Sunday. The latter use 1917 Street Road, a different location from the town station. Riders should follow the departure point on their confirmation and review the activity's boarding and physical requirements.
