Blue River Rail Trail

Blue River Rail Trail follows a former railway corridor north of Marysville. The local tourism organization describes an eleven-and-a-half-mile route with a crushed-limestone surface, passing through wooded and agricultural surroundings. Its connection with Nebraska’s Homestead Trail belongs to a wider network; that local mileage should not be mistaken for the distance to Lincoln.

Several access points let visitors choose an outing that matches their ability and available daylight. Jayhawk Road Trailhead, at 900 Jayhawk Road, has parking, a restroom, water, a picnic shelter and a bicycle repair station in the operator’s published facilities list. Frontier Road provides another established stopping point farther along the route.

Walking and cycling make different demands on equipment and conditions. Review the trail map, choose a return point and check current notices before setting out. A limestone trail is not the same surface as an urban sidewalk, particularly after weather changes.

During the September 2026 review, the operator continued to describe the corridor linking the existing trail with Pony Park and the historic depot as a development project. It should not be treated as a confirmed completed promenade. Use the established access points and obtain current guidance from the trail organization or OneMarysville when planning the approach from downtown.
