Amicalola Falls State Park

Amicalola Falls State Park brings the regional mountain landscape into a Dahlonega journey, but its visitor address is in Dawsonville. It requires a separate road outing from the downtown square. The operator identifies the waterfall as a 729-foot cascade and explains the connection between the park’s approach trail and Springer Mountain, the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.

The current park page announces East Ridge Trail closed for maintenance. A printed map that includes that route is not evidence that it can be followed now. Use the operator’s current notice when selecting a waterfall walk. Guided waterfall hikes are described as moderate to strenuous, involving steep sections and an optional stair portion; strollers are excluded from that program.

The visitor center opened in late 2023, rather than being a newly completed 2026 project. Its exhibits introduce Appalachian Trail history and regional wildlife. The operator publishes center hours of 8 a.m.–5 p.m. daily and park visiting access during daylight. A lodging-related twenty-four-hour label in Maps does not establish unlimited nighttime trail access.
