Eisenhower Presidential Library, Museum & Boyhood Home

The Eisenhower Presidential Library, Museum & Boyhood Home brings together several different ways to study Dwight D. Eisenhower’s life. The museum addresses his public career, while the family home connects that national history with the domestic scale of Abilene. The Place of Meditation is the burial place of Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower and their first son, Doud. Visitors should approach the campus as a group of related spaces with distinct functions.

The home retains original family furnishings and is presented as it was at the time of Ida Eisenhower’s death in 1946, with adjustments needed for visitor access. A maintenance project changes the autumn 2026 experience: in-person home tours are suspended from Tuesday, September 29, for an estimated six to eight weeks. The institution will announce their resumption. A video tour is available in the library auditorium when the house cannot be visited.

The museum’s regular schedule is Tuesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with final admission an hour before closing. Campus grounds are open daily from sunrise to sunset. Research in the reading room is a separate activity requiring an appointment and advance consultation. For an ordinary sightseeing visit, prioritize the museum and public campus, then check the current house notice before expecting interior access.
